Brigadoon announces Virtual Village 2020

Published

With the difficult decision behind us to not run our traditional in-person summer camp programs, we are very excited to announce the details for our new online virtual camp program. While we know that it won’t be the same, we have been hard at work developing plans for how we can bring some of the magic of what we do at Brigadoon to our campers in their homes.

It won’t be camp as we’ve known it, but we are still a strong and connected community that we feel very grateful to be a part of. Brigadoon has always been about more than boating and archery and there’s a reason that our name is Brigadoon Village. This year, our Village goes Virtual!

Our Virtual Village program is an exciting opportunity for our campers to get to engage with Brigadoon while we can’t be together in-person. This program gives campers a chance to engage with us over the full summer, with the bulk of the participation happening during one week of programming.

This Village week will include daily opportunities to build connections with their cabinmates, to participate in daily program blocks, and some fast-paced silly Brigadoon programming full of our traditions and the things that make Brigadoon special! Each registration also includes participation in a Pursuit Week later in the summer, where campers can dive into the program area which interests them most, try new things, and learn valuable skills. Our Virtual Village program, like all of our programs, will be full of meaningful connections, skill development, and exceptional fun.

The Program, at a glance

  • Our mission is the same: We are going to offer meaningful opportunities for campers to connect with us and with one another, learn valuable skills that will be helpful to them outside of camp, grow as people, all while having exceptional fun.
  • We’re excited that this year, we are able to offer a program which campers can stay engaged with all summer and can choose how much involvement they’d like.
  • We’re keeping a close eye on the screen time of the campers who register for our programs, and we have found what we think is a good balance of involvement with Brigadoon while also leaving lots of time to get outside, move around, and do other things with their days.
