Brigadoon Village Seeking New CEO

David Graham leaving to pursue a new opportunity

HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA—The Brigadoon Village Board of Directors announced today, November 28, that after ten years of dedicated service and commitment to Brigadoon campers, families, counsellors and staff, David Graham, CEO, is moving on to pursue new opportunities.

“Brigadoon is fortunate to have benefitted from Dave’s leadership as CEO for the past decade. He’s propelled the organization to new heights, and while we’re sad to see him leave, we wish him all the best in his new endeavours,” says Scott Flemming, Board Chair of Brigadoon Village, Canada’s largest pediatric camp facility. “The board and I are committed to finding the right person to join the team and lead Brigadoon through its next chapter.”

During his time as CEO, Mr. Graham most recently worked with staff to navigate the COVID-19 pandemic which included supporting his team in building a new virtual camp model to keep campers and counsellors connected when Brigadoon, like many other camp facilities, was forced to close temporarily in 2020. Mr. Graham also used the opportunity to work with the board of directors to secure government funding to propel an expansion plan to host more children when the Village could re-open.

Thanks to the generous support of all three levels of government and community donors, Brigadoon completed a $12.5 million expansion in June 2022 and can now host 1,000 children each summer. The expansion includes a new outdoor kitchen, a fully accessible high ropes course, a new arts and culture centre, a giant swing, climbing tower and more waterfront fun.

“It has been an honour of a lifetime to serve Brigadoon’s campers and families,” says David Graham, CEO, Brigadoon Village “There are very few places that own my heart, and Brigadoon is one of them. For the first time in almost 30 years, I won’t have camp in my life, but instead, I have new adventures that await. Brigadoon has a team of passionate and dedicated individuals committed to excellence, and I can’t wait to see what they achieve together.”

Mr. Graham’s last day will be December 31st. The board is presently working on a recruitment plan for a new CEO and will work to ensure a smooth transition.

Brigadoon Village is a non-profit, year-round, recreational facility for children, youth and families across Atlantic Canada living with chronic health conditions and other life challenges. It is located on Aylesford Lake in the Annapolis Valley and has grown to be Canada’s largest pediatric camp facility welcoming more than 3,500 campers to 30 different camps annually. www.brigadoonvillage.ca.
