The New Village: Expansion Project

We’re Expanding!

Demand for space and service at Brigadoon has grown dramatically since we opened our doors almost a decade ago. We fill a critical gap in our community as no facility in Atlantic Canada is specifically designed to serve the entire pediatric chronic illness population the way Brigadoon does. As demand to attend our camps increases each year, so do the waitlists of children we’re unable to help.

More Campers + More Fun

Expanding and modernizing Brigadoon Village’s physical infrastructure will provide new facilities & program elements that will benefit campers and staff for years to come. Funds raised will go toward improved & expanded facilities that will accommodate more kids, create new functional spaces for kids to learn and grow, and introduce additional ways for campers to improve their overall wellbeing through outdoor recreational programming.

The New Village Is Underway

Thanks to an early injection of funds from the government, we were able to begin construction this year allowing us to be well ahead of schedule and also provide work to local trades during the pandemic. The local community has come together to support the Chairs of this project, Scott Flemming and Dr. Mike Giacomantonio, to raise additional funds. An official campaign launch to assist with the remaining funds is planned for October 2021.

So Much More to Come in 2022!

Priority was given to projects that will enhance the health and safety of the pediatric population attending our camp programs this summer, many with immune-suppressed conditions. This fall, construction will resume as we complete additional enhancements by early 2022 such as an outdoor kitchen, a new arts & crafts centre, a high ropes course, a giant swing, a climbing tower, additional waterfront activities and many other features.
